Favorite Lipstick ATM: Pat McGrath MatteTrance in Omi
I am all for having a trillion and one different lipstick shades in a beauty collection. I mean honestly, I have shades that range from frosted peach to satin rose to bold magenta to matte eggplant and the works and I love them all. It’s extremely difficult for me to stick to just one lipstick, but man, if I had to choose a lipstick to take with me to a desert island or to wear if I could only wear one color for the rest of my life- it’d be this one. And that’s a HUGE claim for me to make.

Pigmentation
This stuff is pigmented alright. Just one swipe and you’re good. I’ve had the same tube for months now and I use this color multiple days a week and it’s nowhere close to being finished. It’s amazing that with a matte tube lipstick you can get true color payoff in one smooth, opaque layer. You just truly can’t beat Pat McGrath when it comes to pigmentation- YOU CAN’T.
Color
Omi is the most flattering color- ever. On any skin tone really! Especially on my light-medium olive skin tone. It has a slight gray tone, but it’s not overly gray. I’m actually not a fan of those super gray shades, because they look a bit too unnatural for my tastes. But this has the perfect amount or rose and gray in it that makes for a truly unique but beautiful color. Honestly, in all aspects, I tend to draw towards things that are very natural and wearable, but that still have some type of unique aspect to it that makes it different. That’s why in my opinion, Omi is a color everyone should have in their collection.
Longevity
For a conventional lipstick, this stuff stays on!!! Which is to die for, because I’ve exclusively reserved liquid matte lipsticks for evening use, because they just get way too drying on my lips. This means that to retouch liquid lipstick, generally, you just have to take all of it off and start again. Not with Omi! I’ve worked gigs wearing her, and for EIGHT hours I’ve drank water and everything and she has stayed put!!! I was literally blown away when I was taking a picture of it after eating and it was still on!!!
Packaging
Maybe this isn’t as important as the other aspects for some of you, but for that price tag you might as well know that you’re getting something great. The weight of the lipstick feels expensive and nice in your hand. I personally have the Valentine limited edition version, but the black casing is still sexy as hell too. The gold lips just scream exquisite, and as Marie Kondo says, “Keep things that spark joy!” Well, holding Omi definitely sparks joys for me!
