Best Sunscreens in 2019
I can’t believe there was a time I didn’t wear sunscreen. I mean, was I out of my mind??? Since that time period, I’ve encountered so many clients who confided in me with their sun-damage related skin problems, and since I’ve been paranoid about protecting my skin from the harsh sun. I’ve tried so many sunscreens, from lotion form to spray form, from American brands to Asian brands, hoping to find one that I truly loved. Here’s my list for my top three sunscreens for all skintypes that I’ve found so far:
elta MD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46
My all-time favorite. The elta MD is the sunscreen I go to when I know I’m going to be under direct sunlight. It has also been my every day sunscreen for the past 8 months, and I still don’t need to run out and get a new bottle! It hydrates my skin extremely well- so much so, on good skin days, I can skip my day cream for just this! It’s safe for dry skin, oily, skin and even surgical patients! It definitely plays nice with everyone and everything, which is why it’s my top recommendation!
Neogen Dermology Day-Light Protection Sun Screen SPF 50 PA+++
Can you tell this one gets a lot of love???? The Neogen sunscreen became a favorite when I saw how nice it looked under my foundation. Just like the elta MD, the Neogen provides a lot of moisture for a sunscreen, however it’s not as lightweight as the elta. Now, some people like this because of that aspect. They want a heavier sunscreen, especially if this will be the only cream they’ll use for the day. I would recommend this sunscreen for more normal to dry skin, as it might be a little greasy on oilier skin types.
Biore Aqua Rich UV Watery Essence SPF 50++
This one’s a lighter sunscreen, especially for the SPF 50 it gives you. I like it, because it leaves a tackiness that gives a nice base for foundation to adhere to! It is a bit runny, so it’s easy to over-squeeze product. The only place you can get this stuff though is online, as I picked it up while I was visiting Japan. This product lays nicely underneath foundation, so as long as you let it dry completely first. Setting time is fairly short though, as this sunscreen is extremely lightweight- it’s basically a watery gel consistency. You’re not going to get as much hydration as Neogen or even elta, so because of that, I recommend this more for normal/combo/oily skin types!
